The purpose of this web service is to provide a weekly one-stop concise summary for the articles published in the top journals in the listed fields.
The articles, in their most summarized format, are listed in a single page. By skimming through the page, the reader should have a reasonable familiarity with most of the key articles in the field of their choice for that week. A link to the publisher’s website is then provided to allow a convenient access to the abstract and possibly the full publication (if the user has access to). Open access articles are available through PMC (a link is provided when applicable).
A link to Qx med is provided for each article where you can create an account to bookmark articles of interest for future reference. If you have an institutional subscription to Qx med, you can then access full text articles from the subscribed journals.
Moreover, you can uses the embedded hypothesis.io interface to highlight and annotate the content of interest. Through the same service, you can create groups, share highlights with colleagues or even leave public comments or questions for the other website users to view and reply. Watch this 5 minutes video to learn more.
Qxmed and hypothesis.io are third party platforms that we incorporated within the website to improve the user experience.
Our philosophy behind journals selection:
We identified the main sub domains in the field and picked the highest impact factor journals in each. We made sure we include the official journals for the key societies (eg ACG, AGA, EASL, AALSD, ESGE, ASGE, ANMS, CCF, etc…). For example, the main subdomains in gastroenterology are general gastroenterology, endoscopy, hepatology, inflammatory bowel diseases, motility and functional disorders. The top hepatology journals are hepatology and journal of hepatology, so they were included. The same approach was used for the other sub fields.
We understand that some valuable articles are published in some lower impact factor journals or general internal medicine journals and we will be working on including those in the future.
